What's Covered

GCSE and Functional Skills Maths

With TCC, students develop their number, algebra and problem-solving skills through personalised lessons. Our tutors help learners build confidence, sharpen their methods and achieve success in both GCSE and Functional Skills Maths exams.

Every lesson is tailored to the student's current ability and the specific requirements of their exam board and tier. We start by identifying the gaps between where a student is now and where they want to be, then build a plan around those needs, whether that's mastering algebraic manipulation or tackling multi-step word problems.

Because lessons are usually one-to-one, the pace and focus can change on a weekly basis, spending more time on exam-style questions before a mock one week, with greater focus on a topic like trigonometry or ratio on another, or a short, focused session on times tables and number fluency when these are holding a student's confidence back. Students leave each lesson with a clear next step, not just a page of corrected work.

We provide:

  • Number, algebra and ratio
  • Geometry and measures
  • Statistics and probability
  • Exam technique and past-paper practice

GCSE Maths Resits and Mock Exams

If your child didn't get the grade they needed, a resit is a chance to target exactly where marks were lost. Students aged 16 or over can resit GCSE Maths in the November exam series, and everyone can resit in the summer. We focus lessons on the topics and question types that made the difference last time.

Mocks are just as important. Working through past papers under timed conditions in the weeks beforehand shows students what to expect and turns mock results into a clear revision plan for the real exams.
